Program Overview
This year's Hiroshima Animation Season will feature queer animation, which has been moving dynamically in recent years, both qualitatively and quantitatively. In conjunction with this, we will feature a rich program of animation by an increasingly diverse group of "women. In the event held at the Citizens' Gallery, we will invite guests who are active in queer/feminist research and film writing to talk about gender, sexuality, and women in order to better understand and approach the works screened in the Middle Hall. Please join us after the screening. Please join us after the screening.
Talk I: Connecting Queer with Animation Guest: Akiko Shimizu Moderator: Honami Yano
What is queer? What is feminism? What does it mean to think about gender and sexuality?
Akiko Shimizu, who has been exploring the possibilities of "living" through the study of queer/feminism, will give us an introduction to queer/feminism, which will lead us to the way of seeing the world of animation works.
Sign language interpretation will be provided for this event.
