Program Overview

This year's Hiroshima Animation Season will feature queer animation, which has been moving dynamically in recent years, both qualitatively and quantitatively. In conjunction with this, we will feature a rich program of animation by an increasingly diverse group of "women". In the event held at the Community Gallery, we will invite guests who are active in queer/feminist research and film writing to talk about gender, sexuality, and women in order to better understand and approach the works screened in the Middle Hall. Talk Part 2 "Queer Cinema and "Me"" Guest: Mizuki Kodama Moderator: Honami Yano
As a film writer, Mizuki Kodama carefully scoops up the representations of queer and female characters on the screen and connects her works with the audience. Through her perspective, we will discuss how to view and appreciate animation works related to queer and female characters.
